Sales figures appear to show that some of the “heat” has come out of the property market in the Illawarra as well as elsewhere in Australia.  This appears to be due to a number of factors including inflation and concern that we are looking at some downturn in the economy which is being affected by a range of issues from energy prices to the war in the Ukraine.

These “issues” are certainly worthy of consideration when it comes to buying or selling a property and are just as relevant in the Illawarra as elsewhere although it appears that the drop in property prices in the Illawarra is not as great as that in the Sydney market.  Regardless, property prices are relative in that, if you are selling in a falling market you may not get the price that you had hoped for but if you then buy into the same market you are likely to be able to buy “better” than if you were buying in a rising market.  Swings and roundabouts!
